MONTGOMERY COUNTY BRANCH > Latest Information

A Note from the Montgomery Branch Board...

THANK YOU VERY MUCH for joining us for the first meeting and the presentation about EarthQuest by Dr. Matthew Gardner. We had over 60 attendees.... a fantastic turn-out!

After organizing the first Branch Open Meeting we took a break to recover from all the work it took to put the Branch together.... and it took some time to decipher the sign in sheet for email addresses!

We hope that that the topics were of interest to you, and that we were able to explain a bit about what the USGBC does, and how the M Branch can raise the awareness about smart and sustainable building and living in our area.

The EarthQuest presentation certainly underlined that the interest and energy for promoting Green awareness is huge and growing in our area, and it will be fantastic for our area to see this venture realized. We hope to build on the synergistic possibilities of having the park and research center nearby.

Looking at the near future:

As mentioned at the end of the February meeting, we are now ready to plan our next Open Meeting, which will be in the form of a participation in the Earth Day celebrations in The Woodlands as organized by The Woodlands GREEN, to be held on April 10, 2010 at the campus of the Woodlands High School at 6101 Research Forest Drive, The Woodlands, Texas.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of this popular event, and the M Branch has reserved a booth. The Woodlands GREEN has the same basic objectives at the USGBC, and has been very active in organizing presentations and education in the community. Our Branch would like to expand on all the good work by, and green energy of, The Woodlands GREEN by reaching out into the County and beyond to help raise awareness and share common goals for a better Montgomery County.

We would like to invite everyone to attend our March 23 organizing meeting in preparation for the April 10 event. We will discuss plans of how we will participate, what our contributions and objectives will be, and figure out who will want to help out when during the 10am to 3pm event.

If you are a USGBC M Branch member you will receive our brand new T-shirt to wear during and after the even! So, please sign up (www.usgbchouston.org) if you are not already a member (and thanks to you who have joined since our meeting!!!!).

We look forward to your continued support of, and participation in,
