The U.S. Green Building Council welcomes questions, comments and suggestions that promote and encourage the green building market transformation. Feel free to visit or contact our staff or our volunteer board of directors at anytime.
The chapter receives routine questions about whether company presentations are available to our members. The USGBC-Texas Gulf Coast is a non-profit 501c-3. We do not promote one company over the other. But we realize that companies are vital to the mission of green building so we do allow companies that sponsor the chapter to bring certain materials to events. We also give them an array of benefits that recognizes their commitment to the green building movement. We suggest that companies that would like to educate the general public about green building to become involved as a chapter sponsor. Go to Corporate Recognition for more information.
Please review the following list of items in order to receive help quicker:
HOW TO JOIN
Go to the front page of the website and click on JOIN. You will find information about membership options.
I AM TRYING TO REGISTER FOR AN EVENT & I GET ERROR MESSAGES
Our events are very popular and we highly suggest early registration to assure the easiest experience. You have probably hit a time when many others are trying to register and our system is trying to handle the overload. We always suggest that when you get an error message, try to register later in the workday or better, register at home a several days before an event.
WHERE IS THE ADDRESS FOR AN EVENT
Go back to the calendar and look on the date.
WHAT TIME IS AN EVENT
Go back to the calendar and look on the date.
I CANNOT LOG INTO THE TEXAS GULF COAST WEBSITE REGISTRATION FEATURE
Look at the instructions in red above the Calendar page. It is very likely that you have not created a registration account on the local website. The account you created on the National site does not work on the Houston site. You need to create a new one. The instructions to do this are also repeated on the registration page itself.
I DO NOT HAVE MY MEMBERSHIP NUMBER
You can register without it. Staff reviews the RSVP list before each event to assure a person has a current membership. If you are not current, we will let you know at the event.
I WOULD LIKE TO MEET WITH THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO DISCUSS JOB LEADS IN THE HOUSTON GREEN MARKET
The USGBC-Texas Gulf Coast is a 501 (c)-3 organization dedicated to education and advocacy. We do not have a job placement service. If you are interested in networking, the board encourages people to attend our events and meet our membership personally. We do not meet with members to discuss jobs or any employment opportunities with specific companies.
I DO NOT UNDERSTAND SOMETHING ABOUT MY MEMBERSHIP
Be sure that you are clear regarding the type of membership you are talking about to local staff.
If it is a company membership, you need to contact National because you are not affiliated with our local chapter.
If it is an individual membership with the Texas Gulf Coast chapter, contact the chapter office at membership@usgbctexasgulfcoast.org. Be sure to read all of the information on the Membership Pages. We have tried to answer as many questions for you on the site as possible.
I AM SERIOUS. I WANT TO GET INVOLVED WITH THE CHAPTER
It is very easy to get involved with the chapter. We always suggest the following:
First , attend our chapter events to meet people who share your passions and interests.
Second, join a committee and volunteer on it. Everything happens on the committee level in USGBC-Texas Gulf Coast Chapter so this is the best way to learn what you need to know about how the chapter operates.
Here are the best ways to do both of these suggestions:
1. Go to WHAT WE DO and review our committees. Contact the committee chair directly to learn the details and meetings times, dates and so forth of the committee you are interested in.
2. Review our extensive calendar and attend the events. Our board members and our committee members attend the meetings so this is the very best way to learn how the chapter can help you. The calendar can also Hotsync to Outlook so you can immediately put the events on your personal calendar and remember to come!
IS GALVESTON THE ONLY BRANCH YOU HAVE? I WANT TO BELONG TO ANOTHER ONE.
We have a Montgomery County Branch, a Coastal Bend Branch and a Brazos Valley Branch. You can participate in the branches or you can participate in the Texas Gulf Coast chapter. Visit the various Branch links to the left for more information about when they meet and what they do.
